Your getting married

Detail your services

Step one; Make an appointment to speak to a Priest or a Deacon

This should be the first thing you do!   Before the reception or other plans are made.  You should call for an appointment at LEAST 6 months before you plan on your ceremony.   There is an interview and some paperwork to fill out before a date can be set.

Gather the necessary documents

Baptism Certificates for the Bride and Groom

Proof of  Christian Baptism for the bride and groom, if you were baptized in this parish, you may not need a certificate, if you were baptized in another church we'll need one!  We need a new baptism certificate, issued within the past 6 months by the church you were baptized in.   The Catholic Church recognizes most baptisms as valid, there are a few exceptions....ask your consulting Priest or Deacon.  If you were not baptized, that okay too...talk to your consulting clergy.

Review and choose the readings you want

You should be meeting with your consulting Priest or Deacon a few weeks before the actual ceremony....take a look at the readings you may want

Schedule your rehearsal

Call the rectory to schedule a rehearsal date.  The rehearsal is not a time to socialize, it should take only a hour at the Church.  You will discuss how to process in, and out, and where to stand.  .     The rehearsal dinner, is on you!  That's the time to socialize.

Marriage License

You need to go to the town clerk to obtain your marriage license.

It is only valid for 60 days and you MUST have it no later than 48 hours before you wedding day and time.  The marriage license will not be signed by your witnesses at the rehearsal

Questions?

Speak to your consulting Priest or Deacon
